The five-step workflow

Connect or upload

Import a Trial Balance from Tally Prime with the local connector, or upload Excel or CSV.

Group ledgers

AutoFS suggests the ICAI reporting head for each ledger. Your team reviews and approves it.

Prepare statements

Prepare the Balance Sheet, Profit & Loss, schedules, notes and policies from the approved grouping.

Review

Check the statements, make client-specific changes and clear review points.

Export

Download the reviewed financial statements in Excel and PDF.

Getting started

Create or open your workspace.
Create an eligible Non-Corporate Entity under the ICAI Guidance Note.
Create the financial year.
Bring in the Trial Balance: connect Tally Prime or upload from the Get Trial Balance screen.
Group ledgers on the Grouping screen, review Schedules & Notes, then generate and export from Financial Statements.

Connect Tally

Install the AutoFS Tally Connector Chrome extension on the computer running Tally Prime.
Sign in to AutoFS in the same Chrome profile and follow the connection status shown on the Tally page.
Open Tally Prime, load the company, and confirm HTTP connectivity on port 9000.
Pull the Trial Balance from the Tally page. Excel or CSV upload remains available as a fallback.

Upload a Trial Balance

Upload the Trial Balance as CSV or XLSX from the Get Trial Balance screen, inside the financial year.
AutoFS validates the file structure and totals before ledgers enter Grouping.
Fix any validation messages and re-upload; the FY keeps the latest accepted Trial Balance.
Uploaded ledgers land in the same Grouping workflow as a Tally pull.

Grouping

AutoFS suggests a head in the selected format for each ledger automatically.
Review unmapped and low-confidence ledgers before generating statements.
Use overrides and aliases for client-specific naming; decisions persist across years.
Grouping decisions carried forward make repeat preparation much faster the next year.

Derived schedules & accounting policies

The Schedules & Notes screen captures schedules, classifications, and supporting data that feed the notes.
Select the entity's accounting policies and tailor the wording where needed.
Policies and derived note schedules render directly into the generated statement pack.
Regenerate after any material change to grouping, schedules, or policies.

Fixed asset register (Income-tax blocks)

Depreciation is computed on the Income-tax block under Appendix I, not on the individual asset — one written-down value per block, carried forward year to year.
Every addition needs a date put to use: an asset put to use for less than 180 days in the year joins the block at half that block's rate for the year, and the register will not accept a row with a cost but no date.
When every asset in a block has been sold, discarded, or destroyed and the block's written-down value falls to nil or below, depreciation on that block stops under section 50(2) of the Income-tax Act — what remains is a capital gain or loss, not a further deduction.
The register is evidence for the depreciation charged in the Profit & Loss, never a replacement for it: the booked figure always wins, and the register fills in the per-class split only where the Trial Balance cannot state it.

Provisional statements

Generate a Balance Sheet and Profit & Loss as at any date you choose, from the client's page — useful for a bank loan or overdraft renewal between financial years.
The output is watermarked as provisional and cannot be signed or locked.
A provisional period never becomes another year's comparative — the next real financial year always opens from the last completed year.

Generate & export

Generate the pack from Financial Statements: Balance Sheet, Profit & Loss, notes, and accounting policies.
ICAI Guidance Note output for eligible Non-Corporate Entities is available in AutoFS.
Companies and LLPs are not accepted in AutoFS.
Download Excel or PDF and check the output before sharing it onward; once issued, it also appears under Statement Packs.

ITR-3 / ITR-5 figures

Export the sealed statement's own Balance Sheet and Profit & Loss figures mapped onto the ITR-3 or ITR-5 Schedule BS / Schedule P&L line structure, from Financial Statements once a package is generated.
Every exported figure is tied back to the signed package's own totals before export — liabilities, assets, and net profit all foot to the sealed statement.
The schedule numbering shown is a professional-judgement aid for the stable Schedule BS/P&L structure, not a claim about a specific assessment year's notified utility — verify the exact serial against the current ITR utility before filing. It is a working aid for return preparation; the filer remains responsible for the figures filed.

Bank pack

A separate document for credit appraisal — the same sealed Balance Sheet and Profit & Loss, plus a ratios sheet, generated on demand from Financial Statements alongside the signed pack.
Ratios include total outside liabilities to tangible net worth and debt service coverage, computed only from figures the Trial Balance and working papers can attest.
A ratio that cannot be computed — for example, debt service coverage with no recorded principal repayment — prints its reason instead of a zero or a dash.
It is never part of the signed statement set; the ICAI Guidance Note prescribes no ratio annexure.
